Social Media content Strategy, Brand Strategy, Motion Graphics, Photography, & Brand Collateral

If you don’t know me, I’m Caleb East, a graphic designer who specializes with the creation and implementation of design (or ‘brand’) systems—chiefly with typography, layout, symbols, logo, and motion design for the creation of distinctively branded assets for organizations to best relay their core messages, tone, and philosophy, most often to achieve new goals of growth.

In my first month as an intern at LFD, I focused on creating content for our Firefighter recruiting. Our goal was to increase Social Media engagement while getting the word out to hire Firefighters, whilst unifying their core messaging through revamped branding. From the first day of June to the 28th, I shared videos and posts I had designed. This project was a great window for me to use design and typography to start streamlining the visual identity of the Department and continue going forward for other LFD design projects.

LFD REELS

These recruiting videos, set in full mobile screen (‘reel’) format, were a fine use of our B-roll library. The video-orientation of most of our recruiting output was a great chance for me to do some graphic animation—most often referred to as motion design.

This often involved the creation of a fixed typographic layout (to communicate the message, whether of our Firefighter salary, details on how to register, time left to register, Q&A’s about the process, etc), set in the LFD visual scheme, and then using motion commands to let them appear in the original order and disappear in a delightful, swift kind of manner to move onto the next sequence of information.
